January Draft Culture Session Announced

Our first Draft Culture held in November, brought together 15 of our members from across the Arts and Culture sector. Hosted at Nonsuch Brewing, it was everything we hoped it would be - casual, insightful and a great opportunity to connect.

We wanted to start these small, monthly get-togethers for our members, so that they could exchange ideas, concerns, beefs and anything else that came to mind - while sitting with a group of their peers in an informal setting (thank you, Nonsuch!). November’s Draft Culture focused on Advocacy, and the discussion ranged from how to broadcast our success stories as a sector to how to positively engage with businesses and government.

In fact, there were so many trains of conversation running through the “session” (see what I did there, that’s beer-nerd lingo) that we decided to revisit the topic in a future round (see, I did it again).

Our next Draft Culture is scheduled for January 21, 2025, this time at Little Brown Jug. Our topic of discussion for January’s session will be Arts Fundraising, and more specifically, how did your year end go? This session will appeal to anyone interested in fundraising, including one-person enterprises and Director’s of Development, and those who think fundraising work might be a good career move.

As before, we will limit the size of this event to 15 people, so that all attendees can participate and get the maximum value from these discussions. As Draft Culture continues to grow, we want to ensure equal access to our entire Manitobans for the Arts membership. As such, a digital version of these events is in the works.
